IRENE SANKOFF & DAVID HEIN, Playwrights
Tony and Grammy nominees – and TheatreWorks Retreat and Festival alums - Irene and David are best known for their award-winning Broadway musical, Come From Away, currently available on Apple TV+, one of the most produced musicals in the world. Their first musical, My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding, based on David’s mom’s true story, has won Best Musical in productions across North America, and was recently workshopped at TheatreWorks. Sankoff and Hein have worked on projects for Disney, Netflix, Warner Brothers, and more – and are currently developing many new musicals and film/tv projects. Irene holds an honorary doctorate from Pace University, a masters in acting from The Actors Studio and recently performed in the Canadian production of Come From Away. Irene and David both hold honorary doctorates from Memorial University and are recipients of Canada’s Meritorious Service Cross. Find them online @sankoffandhein and sankoffandhein.com.
DAVID IVERS, Director
DAVID IVERS is the Artistic Director of South Coast Repertory (SCR) in Orange County, California. During his tenure he has commissioned, produced and directed dozens of plays and musicals shepherding some of the countries' most significant artists in our field. He has been an actor and director at many of our most important theatres including a 10-year residency at The Denver Center Theatre Company (40+ productions actor/director), 20 seasons with The Utah Shakespeare Festival (50+ productions as actor/director) including 7 as Artistic Director. Additionally, he spent multiple seasons with The Guthrie Theatre, Berkeley Rep, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, South Coast Rep, Arizona Theatre Company (where he also served as Artistic Director prior to his appointment at SCR). He takes immense pride in developing systems and processes that support and inspire creative teams, staff and community.

BRENDAN LOONEY (Aiden) returns to Vienna after previous workshops with TheatreWorks and Goodspeed Musicals. Additional credits include: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (SF Playhouse), Cabaret, and The Pride of Lions (Theatre Rhinoceros). Looney earned a BA in theatre performance from Marymount Manhattan College.

SEAN OKUNIEWICZ is delighted to return to TheatreWorks, where credits include Ragtime, Sense and Sensibility (u/s), Santaland Diaries (u/s), and the Oskar School Tour. Recent regional credits include We Will Rock You and The Play That Goes Wrong with San Jose Stage Company, Memphis with Berkeley Playhouse, and Rent with Cabrillo Stage. Okuniewicz is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association.

Rachel happily returns to TheatreWorks after playing Annie in The Bridge in the 2025 New Works Festival! Select regional: Scabmuggers at Freight & Salvage, YAGA at Marin Theater, Fun Home at Korsa Musical Theater, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley at Pioneer Theater, and Love’s Labour’s Lost at Elm Shakespeare. Rachel earned her MFA in Acting from Brown/Trinity Rep.

DAN HIATT has performed at TheatreWorks in Primary Trust, Upright Grand, The 39 Steps, The Pitman Painters, Psychopathia Sexualis, and many others. He has also worked at ACT, Berkeley Rep, Marin Theatre Company, CalShakes, and at many regional theatres across the U.S. and Canada.
KEITH PINTO
KEITH PINTO is a multi disciplinary artist from the peninsula. He is a graduate of the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts and is on the faculty at San Jose State University and Ohlone College where he teaches Hip Hop dance technique. As an actor, choreographer, director and musician he’s worked for Theatreworks, American Conservatory Theatre, San Jose Stage Company, San Francisco Playhouse, Campo Santo, CenterRep, 42nd Street Moon, Shotgun Players, Hillbarn Theatre, PacRep, and Jewish Theater SF. Additionally Pinto is a co-founder of the award winning hip hop band and theater company, Felonious. Felonious theater pieces, which Pinto appeared in as well as choreographed include: Beatbox: A Raparetta, Angry Black White Boy, Block by Block and Stateless: A Hip Hop Vaudeville Experience.
JOHN R. LEWIS
JOHN R. LEWIS has performed in numerous workshops and festivals with TheatreWorks, recently understudying The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Other regional companies he’s worked with include Berkeley Rep, the American Conservatory Theatre, Marin Shakes, the Magic, Center Rep, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

ZACH BUKAREV is making his Theatreworks debut with Vienna. ABIGAIL ESFIRA CAMPBELL (Mary & others) is thrilled to be back at TheatreWorks for another NWF developing Vienna. Previous credits include Wendy in Peter Pan at Panto in the Presidio, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls at SF Playhouse, and many others. Now in NYC, she will always run back into the Bay Area's welcoming arms when it comes calling. This performance and all others is dedicated to Ev&Teddy, her two very best friends.

HAYLEY LOVGREN is thrilled to be returning to the New Works Festival after 2024's Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean in a role she reprised at TheatreWorks in 2025. Bay Area credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at San Jose Stage, Ruthless at NCTC, Assassins at Hillbarn Theatre, Significant Other at SF Playhouse, and Lizzie at City Lights. She received a BA in Theatre Arts from Santa Clara University and an MFA in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory.
