The first three performances of every show at TheatreWorks are considered Previews. These performances offer a chance for the artists involved with the production to see their work performed front of a live audience. Then they get to use that information to make changes or tweaks. Opening Night is considered the "final draft" of the show, which will then run the same way for every performance.
Tickets to Previews are less expensive because there is a chance of unexpected things happening during these shows. While some people find unpredictability exciting, we understand that others do not. If you want to see the final, most polished version of the show, choose a performance on or after the official press opening.
Latecomers will be seated at the house manager’s discretion. You may have to wait to enter until an appropriate moment in the play, and you may be asked to sit in an open seat towards the back until intermission so as not to disturb other guests.
TheatreWorks has no dress code. We like you just the way you are! We do ask that you consider going without when it comes to wearing perfumes or colognes, as some people around you might be sensitive to strong smells.
Since the sound of food wrappers and chomping can be disruptive to other people in the theatre, we ask that you don't bring in any food. (Not to mention stains can be a pain to get out of those theatre seats!) You're more than welcome to bring in water as long as it's in a container with a lid.
Much like how you wouldn't pirate a movie by recording it in the movie theatre, we ask that you not record any of our productions. Not only is it disruptive to the other people around you, but there are plenty of legal reasons why not to as well.
Out of respect for the performers and your fellow patrons, turn your cellphone off for the duration of the performance. If you choose to photograph the stage before or after the show, please give credit to the designers.
Most little ones have a difficult time sitting still and quiet for the duration of our plays, so we ask that children aged 5 and under stay home. We also ask that youth under 14 be accompanied by an adult. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket; no babes-in-arms.
At TheatreWorks, we have a strong commitment to giving back to the community that sustains us, and supporting others who do the same. If you are a hosting an auction or other event to benefit the local community, you may request a pair of TheatreWorks tickets to use as a prize or auction item. We ask that you submit your request at least 30 days prior to your event date. Be advised that it may take up to ten business days for your request to processed, and not all requests may be approved. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
