Executive Director

In a co-leadership model with the Artistic Director, the Executive Director will collaborate closely with the Board to
establish a long-term vision and strategy that is effective, achievable, and sustainable, and will co-lead its
implementation. Guided by the mission and values, this individual will be responsible for managing all the company’s
business functions including general management, external and community relations, audience development,
marketing, fund development, financial management, and strategic planning. The Executive Director will report to the
Board of Trustees to provide administrative and financial oversight of all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the
organization. The Executive Director will serve as an active spokesperson for the organization, and cultivate
relationships with municipal leaders, funders, and other philanthropic supporters.

In partnership with the Artistic Director, they will co-lead the Board and senior management team in sustaining equity,
diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, policies and initiatives, and will partner with artists and community and education
staff to initiate and facilitate community-centered programs. The Executive Director and Artistic Director will work
together to expand TheatreWorks’ capacity to support top regional and national talent. They will foster a creative,
accessible, supportive, and joyful environment for artists and the many people who make the work of TheatreWorks
possible – on stage, backstage, in classrooms, online, and throughout the community.

Associate Director of Development

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley seeks an Associate Director of Development. The Associate Director of Development serves as a strategic leader within TheatreWorks Silicon Valley’s Development team, supporting the Director of Development (DoD) in achieving ambitious philanthropic goals and providing day-to-day management of the Development department. This role blends leadership in donor solicitation, board engagement, team management, and institutional fundraising with operational responsibilities including database oversight, grant writing, and special event coordination.

The Associate Director will directly manage donor relationships, monitor key performance metrics for appeals and campaigns, and serve as a strategic partner to the DoD in setting goals and moving donors through the pipeline. This position also plays a critical role in developing comprehensive fundraising strategies and ensuring their execution across all giving channels. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, proficiency in donor management systems (Tessitura preferred), and expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, confidence in direct donor communications, and a proven track record of successfully soliciting gifts from individual donors.

Properties Stock Manager and Artisan

Position Overview: For our productions, the Stock Manager will be resident artisan and be responsible for assisting the Props Director with shopping, building, altering, pulling, or borrowing all props needed. Depending on the scale or needs of a production, the props team can include additional overhire artisans and interns who will work alongside the Stock Manager and Props Director. The Stock Manager is also in charge of the maintenance of the properties stock, as well as, (when working around the production schedule) acts as properties rentals manager for the stock, which is available to the public Bay Area theatre community to rent from.

Qualifications and Skills: The ideal candidate will have experience as a props artisan in a large scale professional theatrical setting.  They will have carpentry, finishing, soft goods/upholstery, and prop fabrication skills. Exceptional communication and organizational skills and the ability to work well in a fast-past and ever-changing environment needed. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Candidate must be able to lift 75 lbs, have a valid driver’s license, and be comfortable driving a cargo van and 24’ box truck.

Compensation: $24 per hour, 32 hour a week, with benefits package and overtime eligible.

Teaching Artists

Teaching Artists are practicing professional artists with the passion, skills, and understanding of an educator.  Real-world experience in their artistic field of choice enables them to enrich their curriculum and engage a broad scope of people beyond the classroom. Teaching Artists bridge the gap between the arts and learning to cultivate the future generations of awesome individuals ready to change this world.

We Are Looking for Teaching Artists Who:

  • Possess a respect for students from all backgrounds and ages.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge, understanding, and passion for their art form.
  • Have an understanding and passion for social justice.
  • Have Equity, Diversity & Inclusion training.
  • Value process and collaboration over end product.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have significant experience teaching their art form.
  • Are familiar with the CA Arts Standards and Common Core State Standards, as appropriate to teaching their art form.
  • Have good classroom management skills.
  • Can participate in constructive feedback.
  • Have reliable transportation and are punctual.
  • Are able to pass a background check and a TB test.
  • Are able to supply a social security number, Tax ID, or proof of authorization to work in the United States.

Design & Production Professionals

We hire scenic, costume, lighting and sound designers for all of our shows. We also hire Equity and non-equity Stage Management, as well as a full complement of backstage crew. Lastly, to supplement the efforts of our on-staff shop, craft, and production professionals, TheatreWorks often hires overhire, from carpenters and painters to property fabricators, costumers, electricians, and other theatre craftspeople. Shop and craft specialists construct and install all scenic elements, help maintain shop and rehearsal facilities, and assist in striking and recycling scenic materials. Successful candidates will have experience in professional shop practices, woodworking, and steel fabrication, with proficiency in common theatrical construction techniques.
