Sophomore Caitlin Beard of Redwood High School interviews Kikau Alvaro, Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at Virginia Commonwealth University, and Associate Artistic Director of Virginia Reparatory Theatre.

Do you know what kinds of careers exist in the performing arts? It's not just actors! There are lighting designers, properties masters, lyricists, and so many more. Now, TheatreWorks is giving you a unique opportunity to explore these professional paths every month with Opening the Curtain, a new series featuring Bay Area high school students in conversation with working artists and artisans about careers in the performing arts.
This new series will educate students about some lesser-known career options, while also addressing ELA content, engaging students in public speaking, interviewing skills, and reflective writing.
